Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs - Western Region, Innergex Chair, Clean Energy BC Board of Directors
Colleen Giroux-Schmidt brings over a decade and a half of experience in BC resource development, and has solid credentials in the renewable energy sector. She currently works as the Senior Director - Regulatory Affairs, West for Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and is currently the Chair of the Board of Directors for Clean Energy BC.
Colleen has strong government relations, relationship building, regulatory, policy development and project management skills, and has been involved in the development, environmental assessment and permitting, construction, and operations phases of approximately 40 run-of-river hydro projects. She was also involved in the development of BC’s largest wind farm.
Colleen is well-versed in association management, having spent several years working with the Association for Mineral Exploration BC. In addition to being the Chair of the Board of Directors at CEBC, she is active on several of the associations committees, including chairing the Conference Committee. She also sits on several committees with the Business Council of British Columbia and is on the BC Caucus Steering Committee for the Canadian Wind Energy Association. Colleen also routinely participates in working groups and task forces with the Provincial government.
In 2014, Colleen was a participant in the International Visitor Leadership Program with the US State Department for a program on renewable energy policy.
Colleen also leads Innergex’s work with the Energy Forum, which is a collaborative table of representatives from the ENGO community and the renewable energy industry.
Colleen is committed to working collaboratively with the industry, governments, First Nations and stakeholders to develop workable solutions and policies.
