June 17, 2011 Vancouver BC Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC) announces New Board of Directors The Clean Energy Association of BC held its Annual General Meeting this week and elected 4 new directors and re-elected another. “So many associations struggle to find volunteers board members but not so with CEBC,” according to Paul Kariya, Executive Director. “This was an election with campaigning and competition, members want to help steer and guide the renewable energy sector.” The lunch time speaker prior to the AGM was Minister of Energy and Mines, Honourable Rich Coleman who addressed a crowd of 200 industry leaders who are keen to see the clean energy sector grow and prosper as the backbone of a sustainable BC economy. The Minister had an encouraging message and indicated the government’s intention of building upon the Clean Energy Act, which was proclaimed in 2010. The immediate priority for the government is to receive recommendations from the BC Hydro Review Panel which will submit its report before the end of June 2011. CEBC is the industry association representing the renewable and clean energy sector in BC. Its 320 members include developers and operators in hydro, wind, biomass, solar, geothermal, tidal, wave and natural gas. Other members are leading service providers in construction, engineering, environmental services, finance, and auxiliary services. The membership also includes labour unions and First Nations.
