Alistair Howard has been working in the clean energy sector in British Columbia for close to 10 years. In 2012 Alistair joined Boralex to start their Vancouver office, where he leads the development of wind, hydro, and solar projects in BC and Alberta.
His experience includes the development of small and large scale wind and run-of-river hydro projects, from project initiation through to successful construction and operation. His project history has given him a first-hand understanding of the complex political and regulatory realities of the industry through the management of commercial, operational and development issues in multiple regions of the province.
Alistair has also been actively involved in a wide range of activities aimed at supporting and growing the clean energy market in BC. At Clean Energy BC he has been a member of numerous committees and has focused on leading issues related to the SOP and the overall market. He has also served on the steering committee of the Energy Forum, which is a group of ENGOs and industry representatives advocating for renewable energy in BC.
“Clean Energy BC represents an established industry that is facing big challenges as it tries to grow. At Boralex we are facing these exact same issues. In BC, our projects include: a 100-year-old isolated hydro facility (renegotiating its contract), an operating run-of-river facility, a large wind project in the middle of permitting, and a peace-region SOP wind project that is actively under construction. I am running for the Board of Directors to hopefully use my direct experience with these issues to help guide the association find and develop new opportunities for renewable energy in British Columbia.”
